Just a list of my theories that aren't actually explained throughout the Black Jack series. If you wanna add something, just go! I want to hear your theories too. I've only seen the recent BJTV series
If you have some info that can prove my theories right or wrong, feel free to post them!
P.S. Some of my theories were made up just for the friggin sake of it. Try to spot them.
1. Pinoko isn't getting any taller or smarter because her brain is encased inside a plastic head. Much like Nadare's case, her brain growth is being limited to the space in that plastic head of hers. Black Jack should either change her head every once in a few years so she can get smarter, or put her brain in her chest like Nadare. Wouldn't she be more useful to him if she were smarter? Maybe she could even perform her own operations and be known as "The Kid Who Graduated School At Age Five" or "The Tumor-Kid Who Extracts Tumors". Take your pick. 2.Why the black cape and the red ribbon? They match his eyes. 3. The thread used for suturing wounds is usually made of organic material and it dissolves into the skin after the skin heals. We can see the thread that goes through BJ's face, di ba? It didn't dissolve or anything like and the same with the rest of his stitches so the stitching thread isn't organic and they will remain there on BJ's body for the rest of his life. Even if it starts to decompose and rot his skin along with it. 0_0 Or maybe it's made of stuff that lasts forever, like, plastic? (If you were living under a rock, plastic takes hundreds of years to decompose). If they were organic, we'd see a pink line across his face instead of black stitches. Either that or the animators (and Tezuka) were too lazy and think a pink scar was impractical. (I think so too) 4. Neither Tezuka nor the animators memorize the exact places, positions, or the number of Black Jack's numerous scars. Only the ones on his face, which are...two. Well, can't blame them. In the tv anime, the only ones i notice that remain constant are: a.the one stitch going down both his lower arms b. A t-shaped one on his leg (i dont know which one) c. two scars around his right forearm (though it changes position along his forearm, going up, going down) d. and of course, his face scars But they change all the time. Sometimes they even disappear. 5. Why don't we see scars on his fingers? a. His fingers miraculously never detached from his hand. b. They used organic thread and they dissolved (but we should see a pink line.) c. Dr. Honma made them disappear with his magical powerz that every genius surgeon acquires in order to heal every single sickness that ever happened to man. d. The animators got tired of drawing finger scars all the time. 5. Kiriko is old enough to be BJ's dad. 6. Kong so desperately wants to be zapped to oblivion by Sharaku's third eye. That's why he wants to take the bandage off. 7. Honma's nose is so huge and bumpy because he has a teratogenous cystoma in his nose and he hasn't realized it. It never had a chance to live *sniff* 8. Like in my other forum post, Black Jack's most probable age is 28 (more or less). ;D 9. Ushigoro (the stubborn guy who built Black Jack's house) is dead. EDIT: Ushigoro is ALIVE and kicking and he came back to rebuild BJ's house after BJ21. (Who else can and who would he allow?)
10. Last but not least, Black Jack allows to Pinoko to be vain. He let her buy (or bought her) all that make up and long dresses and gowns and stuff. I'd most certainly like to hear your thoughts!

1. i dont think a larger brain emphasizes smartness does it? and besides Pinoko is matured at some point although there are times when she acts in a naive manner... and besides if she gets smarter... well... the show will lose some of its cuteness...(this is my opinion)

Hahaha, good reasons, mai. You too, QueenofHearts.
I've never actually read the manga. Or any other Tezuka manga. They are so hard to find. Only the two first chapters of Black jack, bleh. I'm waiting for vertical's releases.
I love Tezuka's simplistic style as well, it's cartoony in a cool way.
BJ's bow was BLUE!? Why haven't I seen that?! Looks like I have to look at some colored manga art. I feel so left behind...I'm so used to the bjtv series.
Yes, if Pinoko were any smarter, she'd lose her entire character, personality, and my respect for her. The series will be way too serious now. My theories are dumb.
Again, these theories are based on the Black Jack TV series. I have only read the first two BJ manga chapters, no more

10. Last but not least, Black Jack allows to Pinoko to be vain. He let her buy (or bought her) all that make up and long dresses and gowns and stuff. Really? BJ was never much of a materialistic guy. The amount of money given to her is certainly limited (if I can remember from the episode where Pinoko tries to help a would be burglar).[/quote] Oh then why does Pinoko have make-up on her desk and why does she happen to have a lot of them?

1. Pinoko isn't getting any taller or smarter because her brain is encased inside a plastic head. If I recall, I believe Kar told me that in the manga, Bj actually does replace her body every so many years since her insides are growing. So she grows (if you call that growing) in height, at extremely slow rate. And about her intelligence, she hasn't had much life experience even though she's technically 18. At the time, Tezuka was copying the drawing style of Betty Boop and Disney shorts, so his art is very cartoony. They often show stitches for scars in those cartoons as well. I think Tezuka probably continued that form of drawing scars, plus it's very hard to draw scars in general (especially cartoony) and I think it'd look off if it was just a line on his face to show the two different skin tones. Tezuka usually keeps track of those kind of things, so I would think it's more consistent in the manga. And with Tezuka dead, they don't have someone to bug the animators to keep it that way. Definitely, he was a doctor in WWII, which was in the 1940's. Bj is supposed to be about 25-ish, (ending age is 28?) in the manga, which was published 1973. So he was born some after the war... which might explain about the bomb(mine, whatever ._.). Who knows =O It seems like his character is doomed to die in anything he appears in. Pretty much :3 Thinks he's a few years younger in the beginning.

Really? Well, Bj changing Pinoko's body every year or so is imaginable. How about he change her appearance to shock people, lol...

NEW THEORIES!!!!!!! (if I add this is in the 1st post, most ppl wouldnt notice it) How our beloved doctor got his hat in BJ 21 (i made another thread here about it but it went unnoticed. Administrators, you have my permission to delete that thread). Remember in the 2nd half of the Lost Episodes when BJ and Pinoko had to wear disguises? BJ had a blackish-brownish hat there that looked almost the same (if not somewhat smaller) as his hat in BJ21. Keaton, who dressed up as Black Jack to fool Kong's sister, acts as BJ when he was younger, during the flashbacks (he's a budding actor, after all).He looks so much like BJ when he was a kid. And for the scene where kid BJ has white hair and scars, Kong is his make-up artist. He could also be what BJ would look like (in elementary? middle school?) if the accident never happened. Radishes are white taproots that grow in dirt and are good for soups. But in Pinoko's hands, they triple in size and mass and become deadly projectiles, clubs and maces, even swords. A tasty soup ingredient for us, a weapon for her. Black Jack and Pinoko probably like radishes and french baguettes. Whenever Pinoko has shopping bags in hand, there is at least one of each. But the baguette could just be one of those things that you can always expect to see in shopping bags in every tv show. Pinoko doesn't ride BJ's car unless she goes with him somewhere, which is mostly hospital business. All the other times, she WALKS.To go shopping, visit Sharaku & Wato, or go downtown, she walks from the isolated house by the cliff ALL THE WAY down the highway and ALL THE WAY to the market. And she carries at least two full shopping bags/baskets whenever she goes home from shopping. It would be hard to ride Largo with all those bags. And if she did, Largo would be dead by now LOL. She doesn't commute either. And her legs are short. Yet she miraculously arrives home before dark and yet you don't see her out of breath. Either Pinoko uses her telekinesis abilities to teleport her from place to place or ever since she started walking, Black Jack made her walk impossibly LONG distances so she would be useful when groceries need to be restocked.

Maybe she could even perform her own operations and be known as "The Kid Who Graduated School At Age Five" or "The Tumor-Kid Who Extracts Tumors". Take your pick. A bigger brain doesn't necessarily mean you'll be smarter. In fact, scientists say if our brains were twice as large, we'd lose our humanity. And BJ actually changes her casing every now and then!? 2.Why the black cape and the red ribbon? They match his eyes. ! Yeah, in the manga, it was actually blue. But Mai, what's up with the old man? Were you referring to BJ or Tezuka? As for the coat--I call it a coat since it has sleeves--it probably evolved from the evil villain in the cape. BJ loves to make himself look like the bad guy and it shows. Either that or the animators (and Tezuka) were too lazy and think a pink scar was impractical. (I think so too) Not all sutures are organic. Those are catgut sutures. There are also nylon and I think metallic sutures that aren't meant to be disappear anymore. Those kind of sutures are used for weak areas where they were sewn to support them. 4. Dr. Honma made them disappear with his magical powerz that every genius surgeon acquires in order to heal every single sickness that ever happened to man. d. The animators got tired of drawing finger scars all the time. Well, attention to such detail is time-consuming. But yeah, I do get annoyed with consistencies. 9. Ushigoro (the stubborn guy who built Black Jack's house) is dead. EDIT: Ushigoro is ALIVE and kicking and he came back to rebuild BJ's house after BJ21. (Who else can and who would he allow?)
Yeah, I think they're just trying to soften the blow on the younger viewers. btw if you are entering the building, you need an id with a picture (school id) Why?

Really? Well, Bj changing Pinoko's body every year or so is imaginable. How about he change her appearance to shock people, lol... LoL... but something bothers me yet.... how BJ can put all the organs of a person of 18 years old in a body of a child!!!! I really can't understand XD...
